Balingen - Baden-Württemberg - Buses and buses

Balingen is a German district town, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The town was first mentioned as early as 863, when Balingen belonged to the county of Haigerloch. As a result of its location on the Schweizerstrasse, a very important traffic and trade route, Balingen experienced a rapid development of trade. It was mainly the textile and leather processing industries which gave an impulse for the next investment in the city, i.e. construction of a railroad line in 1874. 

Balingen - city description and tourist attractions 

From our bus stop located by the railroad station - Bahnhof itches within 10 minutes to the first attraction of the city which is undoubtedly the Zollern Castle together with the water tower. It is located in the southeastern part of the old town, and its first parts (Zoller castle complex) were built shortly after the founding of the city. A short distance from the castle is the only sulphur fountain in Balingen. Thanks to the sulphurous water, the town became a health resort and began to attract more and more visitors. In the center of the town there is also a market fountain representing an anonymous knight called Ulrich. Interestingly, it is only a copy and the original made in 1950 stands in the local history museum. Another attraction is the late Gothic Evangelical church, which was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The building is characterized by a high, 61-meter tower and a sundial placed on the wall. Once inside, every tourist will be able to admire the beautiful baroque organ and the work of renaissance artist Simon Schweizer, who came from Balingen.
