Baranovichi is a city in Belarus, first mentioned in 1706. In the early 18th century it was still a private property of Rozwadowski family, and today it is a city of almost 200 thousand people. The main driving force behind the economic development of the city was the creation of the railroad line Warsaw - Moscow and Lviv - Vilnius. Baranavichy has many attractions in its tourist offer. The most important of them is undoubtedly the Orthodox Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God, built in 1931 in neoclassical style. Another attraction of the city is built in 1924 wooden church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, which is one of the most recognizable architectural wooden buildings of the early twentieth century. Being in Baranavichy it's also worth visiting the Railway Museum, which will delight not only railroad enthusiasts, but also people who are not associated with rail transport. It has a lot of exhibits of the historical steam and diesel trains, which represent the entire era of rail transport of Baranavichy. Every tourist will find many other attractions and characteristic buildings in the city. These are among others the old farm buildings, fire station, high school and the building of the Polish bank. While in Baranavichy it is also worth seeing the historic railroad station, the monument to Hungarian officer Lt. Arthur Buol or the historic market square, where you can enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee or a tasty regional meal in the local cafes.
