Battipaglia is a small town located on the eastern coast of Italy. It lies in Campania. When planning a trip to Italy, Battipaglia is not an obvious choice, given that Naples is located in the nearby area. But it is the proximity to Naples that is one of the biggest pluses of this town of fifty thousand people.
Traveling to Naples from Battipaglia by car takes less than an hour, and thanks to this we can save a lot on accommodation, because considering the price for accommodation in the capital of Campania, it might be a better choice to just look for accommodation outside this metropolis.
Battipaglia is therefore, in a way, a base for exploring Naples and all the attractions located in the close vicinity of Naples. And there are so many of these that even a week's vacation would be lacking. But let's take it one step at a time.
Battipaglia lies at the border of the breathtaking Parco regionale Monti Picentini, offering many hiking trails during which you will marvel at the views and the proximity to nature. A trip to Battipaglia should therefore be of interest to trekking enthusiasts.
If, on the other hand, hiking is not on your mind, it's worth taking a trip north towards Naples, where you'll end up in... Pompeii! One of the biggest attractions is the House of Vettius, which houses a collection of multicolored frescoes that survived the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Of course, heading even further north you will hit the National Park created around the volcano. Vesuvius rises more than one thousand two hundred meters above sea level, so reaching the summit will not be as difficult as climbing Mount Etna.
Before reaching Naples you can stop in the village of Torre del Greco. The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum is located within the town. It's actually one of the ancient cities destroyed by the nearby merciless Vesuvius.
Of course, going to Battipaglia it's impossible not to visit the capital of Campania - Naples. And because of the history of this city, it is worth devoting at least a weekend to it. Among the many sights we'll mention a few, such as the Castel Nuovo, a medieval fortress with five towers, an art museum and a Renaissance triumphal arch, the Catacombs of San Gaudioso dating back to the 3rd century with early Christian paintings, and a system of tunnels, caves, cisterns and hideaways.
Fans of more active pursuits will also find something to enjoy. Naples is home to Edenlandia, an amusement park with numerous merry-go-rounds and slides, go-karts, a mill wheel, and unique attractions for smaller children. It may not be as impressive as parks in other countries, but if you happen to be with smaller children and want to provide them with great memories as well, you may want to visit just this point on the long list of attractions in Naples.
The town of Battipaglia can be reached, for example, by Sinbad buses. The bus stop or bus station where Sindbad's buses stop is located in the parking lot at Villa Comunale / Bar Catino. There is also a small park nearby, where you will be able to wait, for example, for a bus to Naples, if you happen to decide to travel around the area by bus.
Equally close is the train station, so you can also take a train and thus set off on your journey. We, on the other hand, recommend using buses, if only for the convenience that you will experience if you decide to book a ticket to Italy on our website.
They are a great way to get around.
