Biberach an der Ris is a district town in northern Swabia. It is referred to as an imperial city, which is reflected in the city's very well-preserved historic old town and the surrounding historic buildings. The winding lanes and the characteristic half-timbered houses give the town its special character. From our bus stop at Parkplatz am Hallensportbad, Memminger Str., you can take a bus or a cab to the city center. The first attraction may be the four-department Biberach Museum, which is one of the ten most important municipal museums in Baden-Württemberg. The exhibition consists of historical exhibits dating back to the city's early days and countless paintings by major South German artists such as Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Johan Heinrich Schönfeld. Another attraction is the museum of the famous poet Christoph Wieland, where you can get to know the very rich work of this artist. Apart from museums, the city also has other attractions like the Stadtpfarrkirche St. Martin, which is one of the oldest simultaneous churches in Germany. There is also the Weberberg, which is an example of an old guild settlement with the aforementioned half-timbered houses or the Weissgerberwalk, which is one of the last old but still operational tanneries in Europe. After a long walk, visit the "Fresh Market", which is one of the largest markets for fresh produce and international delicacies in the region. It is held twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and attracts crowds of interested shoppers.
