Bolzano is an Italian city today, but over the centuries this region has been the cause of disputes between Austria , Germany and Italy, so that today when you visit this region you see the influence of these three countries which distinguishes Bolzano from other Alpine Italian cities.
The biggest attraction in Bolzano is the Archaeological Museum of South Tyrol where you will find the mummy "man of ice " called Ötzi. Ötzi is said to be the oldest man on earth - his mummy is over 5300 years old, although after being found in the mountains at over 3200 m.a.s.l. it was thought to be the body of a lost skier. On the 3rd floor of the museum is the Iceman Box, where the mummy is kept at -6 degrees. You can look in there only through a small window. Bolzano is also a beautifully located historic center with historic houses, stalls, restaurants where we can taste the unique specialties of cuisine from northern Italy but also Germany and Austria.
