Chełm is a beautiful, historic city in Lublin Voivodeship, in the eastern part of Poland, 25 km from the border with Ukraine and 50 km from the border with Belarus.
There are still such cities in Poland where one lives more slowly and sightseeing is not based on a mad rush from one attraction to another. Chełm is undoubtedly one of them.
From the very beginning of its existence, Chełm has been located in the borderland, which is clearly visible in its history, but also in religion and in the preserved sacral monuments. Over the centuries Chełm was an Orthodox, Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic bishopric. There was also a Jewish community here.
