Chojnice is a medium-sized (less than 40 thousand inhabitants) city located in the Pomeranian province, specifically in the western range of the Tuchola Forest. This forest complex needs no further introduction for those who love relaxing in nature. It is nature that is the primary distinguishing feature of the tourist offers of all cities located in this region. Chojnice is no different. To the north of the city, in its full splendor, stretches the Tuchola Forest National Park with all its natural riches. The Park is surrounded by sizable bodies of water: Lake Charzykowskie, Lake Długie, Lake Karsinski, Lake Łąckie, Lake Dybrzyk and Lake Mylof. If we add that all the aforementioned lakes are connected by the Brda River, we have a veritable paradise for sailors, canoeists and lovers of other water sports. The Tuchola Forest is an ideal destination for anglers, mushroom pickers, avid walkers, joggers and cyclists. It is quite a treat for those who can appreciate contact with nature, clean air and locally nurtured traditions.
Most tourists who come to this place come here because of the uncommon natural resources. However, it is worth remembering that Chojnice and neighboring towns also have a lot to offer in the subject of architectural monuments. While in Chojnice, one must see the string of defensive fortifications with the Człuchowska Gate and three towers. This "Stone Ring" was built in the Middle Ages, and significant parts of it still survive today. The most important church in Chojnice is the Minor Basilica of St. John the Baptist. St. John the Baptist's Assumption. It is also the oldest religious building in the city. The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, finished in the late Baroque style, is quite different. Also worth seeing in the area are: the monumental church of All Saints from the 19th century in Brusy, 19th-century rural buildings in Nierostow, a farm and manor house in Korn, a wooden church in Lesno or the church of St. Mary Magdalene in Czersk.
The city boasts good quality tourist facilities. We are talking primarily about a developed network of agritourism farms and restaurants serving local delicacies. Let's remember that we are talking about a city where the influence of Kashubian culture is very visible. During your stay in Chojnice, it is worth immersing yourself in Kashubian tradition. This can be done in several ways: by tasting local dishes, snorting snuff and admiring Kashubian embroideries and folk instruments.
