Elblag is an interesting city with great potential for weekend sightseeing. Hand in hand with intriguing monuments here go good quality accommodation facilities and an even better offer of food outlets. What's more, Elblag is also a great base for exploring the region's natural gems, including the Druzhno Lake Reserve, the Vistula Spit Landscape Park and the Elblag Upland Landscape Park. Speaking of natural values, the Elbląg Canal cannot be overlooked here. This is a unique waterway in the Warmian-Masurian province. It includes lakes connected by canals, locks and slipways with a total length of nearly 130 km. The Elbląg Canal is a great example of the successful cooperation of human thought with the beauty and power of nature. Tourists visiting Elblag can take a cruise on a cruise ship that runs on the waters of the Canal.
Cruise ships are, of course, not the only way to get around the city. And although the main sights of the city center are not far away and can be easily reached on foot, the city has efficient public transportation. Local transportation to neighboring communities also works well, and in the summer season also to typical tourist destinations, such as Malbork, Krynica Morska, Stegna, Sztutowo. PKS Elblag is responsible for this type of transport.
You can easily get to other regions of Poland by choosing Sindbad busy Elblag. Our company offers a wide network of bus connections - from Elblag you can successfully get to practically every corner of the country, as well as to many cities outside Poland. One of the reasons in favor of wheeled transport is the good road network near Elblag - two expressways - S7 and S22 - intersect in the south of the city, and each of them can be reached by the A1 highway.
It would be best to start your stay with a visit to the Old Town. There you can see, among other things, beautiful townhouses, most of which boast a short pedigree. They are the result of the reconstruction of buildings begun in the 1980s. The new buildings follow the lines of the old tenements and are erected on the lines of their foundations. The Old Town is also home to the tallest church in Poland on the right side of the Vistula, the St. Nicholas Cathedral. For those without fear of heights and in good shape, the cathedral's tower awaits, offering a beautiful panorama of the area. Another vantage point is the Market Gate, located on the other side of the Old Town.
Fans of museums should take a course to the Elblag Archaeological and Historical Museum, where you can admire exhibits found at archaeological sites in the Old Town. The museum also has a fractious exhibition on the history of the region. The collection of modern art at the EL Gallery Art Center is also interesting.
A great place to practice an active form of tourism, on the other hand, is the Bazantarnia forest park - a heavily forested area with features of a mountainous terrain - an ideal place for walking, jogging or cycling.
