Visit the city of Goteborg
Goteborg is the second largest city in Sweden and also the largest seaport in all of Scandinavia. It was founded in the early 17th century on the orders of King Gustav II Adolf by Dutch architects, and the main intention was to make Sweden independent of the customs duties charged by Denmark in the Danish Straits. In the nineteenth century it became an industrial city as a result of strong trade, and today it remains a highly developed and internationally important city. Our coaches stop at the Christina Nilssons Gata Opera House, which is one of the first attractions worthy of any tourist's attention. The building was designed by renowned architect Jan Izikowitz, and the work was completed in 1994. About 500 employees work in the more than 1,000 rooms of the opera house, and up to 250,000 visitors attend the organized performances every year. Another interesting point on the map of the city is the fountain representing the statue of Poseidon, which is also the symbol of Goteborg. The oldest secular building in the city is Kronhuset, the former city arsenal. In the 17th century it was the seat of the parliament and today it houses small craftsmen's workshops where you can buy products made of silver, gold or glass. Goteborg is also a city of many museums including the Art Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Maritiman Museum. The latter is a great attraction as it is the world's largest floating museum. Tourists travel on board twenty vessels that are connected to each other by a special system of footbridges. The collection includes fishing boats, sailing boats and warships like the historic destroyer Smaland, which sailed Swedish waters in the 20th century and the submarine Nordkaparen.
The Goteborg stop from which Sindbad buses leave is located at the Opera - Christina Nilssons Gata.
