Jawor is a town in Poland, Lower Silesia Province, in Jawor County, historically in Lower Silesia. Between 1975 and 1998, the town belonged administratively to the Legnica Province. Jawor is located on the Nysa Szalona, Jawornik and Paszówka rivers, in the central part of Lower Silesia, on the Jawor Plain, part of the Chojnowska Plain. The town took its name from the Polish name of the sycamore tree (Acer pseudoplatanus in Latin), which is a widespread tree in the Sudety Mountains.
The monuments of Jawor include the Church of Peace. This wooden Evangelical church with a half-timbered structure, located in the town of Jawor, is a historic religious building built under the agreements of the Peace of Westphalia concluded in 1648 and ending the Thirty Years' War. Every year from May to September Peace Concerts are organized in Jawor. They take place in the historic interiors of the Church of Peace. The chamber music performed by artists from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany and the place where the concerts are held create a special atmosphere and provide an unforgettable experience.
