Koblenz - considered the oldest city in Germany, picturesquely located at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers, at which the famous monument to Kaiser Wilhelm in Deutsches Eck - a nearly 40-meter-high rider on horseback - was erected. When visiting Koblenz, don't miss a breathtaking cable car ride over the Rhine to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which now houses a hotel and a branch of the national museum. A few minutes from the stop where our buses stop on Neversstr., the Forum Confluentes houses the Middle Rhine Museum, which is one of the oldest museums in Germany. Its collection consists mainly of works of medieval, baroque and 19th-century painting, as well as classical modernism or 1950s abstraction. Another interesting museum worth visiting is the Romanticum, where visitors embark on a virtual boat on a multimedia journey along the Rhine, during which they experience the unique UNESCO World Heritage landscape and learn about the river with all its mysteries, monuments and legends. Another place associated with culture in Koblenz is the Theater, located near the Electors' Palace, which is the only surviving classical theater building on the Middle Rhine. A point on the Koblenz map worth seeing is also the Old Town, with its romantic, winding streets, charming courtyards and small, cozy squares, where numerous cafes invite you to relax. In addition, here you can gloat over the Church of Our Lady, the Basilica of St. Kastor, the Protestant Florinskirche or the picturesque Schängelbrunnen Square by the city hall. A few jams away, near the banks of the Rhine, is the classicist Elector's Palace, now serving as the seat of the federal government. On the outskirts of Koblenz, on a hill overlooking the waters of the Rhine, stretches the neo-Gothic Stolzenfels Palace, which was originally a fortified castle. Surrounded by a picturesque landscaped park, it invites a little excursion outside the center for any tourist wishing to experience a sizable piece of history and get in touch with nature.
