Korosten is a city located in Ukraine, in the Zhytomyr region. It is a railroad junction and the center of machine-building, porcelain, woodworking, household chemical, light, and food industries. Near the town there are granite quarries. Korosten is also famous for the production of porcelain.
The Korosten Folklore Museum was opened in 1987 on the former site of the Korosten fortified area. We can learn about the history of the region from ancient times based on the results of archaeological research carried out in the 90's. The most valuable exhibits are samples of minerals, weapons from the XIII-XIX centuries, Polishchuk tools, arts and crafts. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by a canvas-diorama "Princess Olga near the walls of ancient Iskorosten". (artist A.Turansky, 1982), which recreates the image of the arrival of the widowed princess Kijowana the walls of the rebellious city.
Another place worth visiting is the Skelya Museum.It is a park in the town of Korosten, its museum is located in a military bunker,which is hidden in a granite rock. And in the bunker everything is divided into rooms. Each of them is filled with all kinds of exhibits of the Great Patriotic War. The bunker had a direct connection to the Kremlin.
While in Korosten, a visit to DrevlianskyiPark is a must. An excellent place, situated on the banks of the river Uzh. Its history dates back to the times of Drevlians and Kievan Rus, and thanks to it you can see the pedestals of prominent personalities of those times. Motifs of principalities - all this creates a special charm and makes this place unique.
