Krotoszyn is a city with county rights in Greater Poland Province. It is located just over 100km from Poznań. The city has a population of about 30,000.
First mentions date back to the early 15th century. The city was founded by Wierzbięta Krotowski-a representative of the mighty Lodz family. It was then that the name Krotoszyn began to be used. The city, consumed by fires and wars, was rebuilt successfully each time.
While in the city, it is certainly worth seeing the city hall. It is a brick building erected in the 17th century. The church was rebuilt in the late 19th century, gaining more of a Neo-Renaissance style. Another attraction is the late Gothic St. John the Baptist Church-the church unfortunately burned down twice, however, it has been restored not only on the outside. It has also been renovated inside, while the organ has undergone restoration. The Baroque monastery complex is also worth seeing. The Church of St. Fabian and St. Sebastian is also an interesting building. It is a wooden church with a cupola, originally built as a hospital facility.
