Kiev is the largest city and capital of Ukraine, picturesquely located on the Dnieper River. Kyivans call it the "eternal city," putting it in line with the immortal Rome and Constantinople. What to visit in Kiev? 

God's Wisdom Cathedral

God's Wisdom Cathedral, or St. Sophia Cathedral, is a Kiev church that now serves as a state museum. The building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The architecture of the building is impressive. In the interior, one of the things that impresses is the six-meter-tall Orant mosaic, which depicts the Virgin Mary. In the sobor you can also admire mosaics and frescoes dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

Pechersk Lavra 

Pechersk Lavra is a large Orthodox monastery. When visiting the monastery, be prepared to hike for hours. The most interesting part is the upper lavra, where most of the buildings serve as museums and exhibition halls. Noteworthy among them are the Annunciation Church, the Cathedral Cathedral Sobor of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the Great Bell Tower and the Holy Trinity Church.

St. Andrew's Church 

St. Andrew's Church was built in the 18th century on the initiative of Tsarina Elizabeth. The building was erected on the plan of a cross. Its interior is stunning with rich decorations, which would take several hours to see in detail. The patron saint of the church is not accidental. According to legends, it was St. Andrew himself who pointed out the place where the temple would one day be built.

Chernobyl Museum 

In recent years, the subject of the Chernobyl disaster has been increasingly discussed. Documentaries and even a feature series are being made about it. Facts about the explosion and further fate of the people living in the region can be found in the Chernobyl Museum. It shows, among other things, how information was transmitted to the public and how it was transformed.

Pirogovo 

Pirogovo is an open-air museum located near Kiev. If you are a lover of history and interesting culture, be sure to include this place in your tour program. A considerable area contains objects characteristic of the folk architecture of Ukraine. The local folklore of various regions of the country is reflected.

Maydan 

Independence Square is one of the most important places for the people of Ukraine. It was here that the bloody events that changed the face of the country took place a few years ago. This is where the heart of the city beats during holidays and political events. One of Kiev's most famous streets - Khreshchatyk (Khreshchatyk) - runs through Maidan. Be sure to drop in here on Saturday evening, when the street is closed to traffic and various street artists begin their concerts and shows. 

Khreshchatyk 

Khreshchatyk is a representative street of Kiev, compared to Paris' Champs-Elysees. The thoroughfare bustles with life around the clock. During the day, it's worth going there to admire the buildings rebuilt after war damage, in the evening - to drop in to any of the bars, which are not lacking in this place.

National Olympic Sports Complex 

Soccer fans, certainly know the team Dynamo Kyiv. It is a multiple-time champion of Ukraine. The team has also appeared in the Champions League. Home matches are played at the National Olympic Sports Complex. It's an interesting place, even when it's not a soccer venue. This is because guided tours are held there, during which you can see parts of the facility that are inaccessible to mere mortals.
