Lubaczów is a small town in south-eastern Poland, in Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
When in Lubaczów, it is definitely worth seeing the Jewish Cemetery, which has been entered in the register of monuments of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The cemetery was established in the 18th century and occupies an area of 0.3 ha, where 1,665 tombstones have survived (35 of them from the 18th century).
The beautiful fence was erected in 1930 from the foundation of Josef Hirsz Reinfeld (a Jew from Lubaczow permanently residing in the USA). On the cemetery there is a mass grave commemorating 950 Jews killed by the Germans in 1942. The cemetery is one of the most interesting Jewish necropolises in Poland. It is surrounded by a wall and there is a gate with iron forged gates, originally decorated with gilded lions. Today there are about 150 stone matzevot (Jewish tombstones, usually in the form of a vertically placed rectangular stone or wooden (from the 19th century also cast iron) slab topped with a straight line, a triangle, a semicircle or two parts of a circle. Matzevot are of great artistic value, richly decorated with interesting bas-reliefs.
When in Lubaczow in the summer, one can go canoeing down the picturesque Tanwia River. Due to the shallow water (up to 1 m deep), the route is suitable for everyone.
Although on the route we may encounter the remains of old trees in the riverbed, so we must be prepared to get out of the kayak.
In the town it is worth visiting the Museum of Borderlands, which is located in a manor granary from the early nineteenth century. There are three permanent exhibition halls, which cover the history of the town and the region, the material culture of the Lubaczow village and the art of the Borderlands, and two temporary ones. Additionally, the Oficyna Gallery, which is located in the manor park, hosts exhibitions. Since 1993 the Museum has been hosting the Polish Contemporary Drawing Triennial, a national competition whose aim is to present the phenomena occurring in art. Behind the museum building is a chapel of St. John of Nepomuk.
In the summer months, the Lubaczow Concathedral hosts International Organ Concerts, during which world-renowned musicians can be heard.
The bus stop is located at the Lubaczow bus station.
