Lubin is a city in the southwestern part of the country, located in Lower Silesia Province. It is interesting to note that the name of the city comes from the word lubić, probably the name of the former Lubin was referred to as a favorite place or a beloved town.
The first records of today's Lubin date back to the 12th century, in the later history of the city the lands belonged to the Prussians. After World War II, the inhabitants of German origin were displaced after the Soviet army entered the town. Unfortunately, Lubin suffered greatly during World War II; the city was almost completely destroyed.
For the postwar history of the city, the discovery of copper deposits was very important for the economic development of the city. It largely financed the construction of housing estates, schools or kindergartens. To this day, deposits of copper, as well as silver, are still being mined. It is just in Lubin, as well as in Legnica, there are some of the largest deposits in Europe and in the world, where one of the largest companies of the state treasury - KGHM S.A.
Worth seeing are, among others, the Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa - a nice Roman Catholic Gothic temple. Another attraction of the city is the castle chapel, a remnant of medieval buildings.
Sindbad bus stop is located at the bus station in Lubin, on Maria Skłodowska-Curie Street. From there you can start your sightseeing. You are only 1km away from the aforementioned castle cathedral, which is about a 12 minute walk.
