Nowa Sarzyna - tourist attractions and history of the city. What is worth seeing?

Nowa Sarzyna - a town in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Leżajsk County. It is located on the Trzebośnica River in the valley of the Lower San River. The town was founded on the land of the 14th-century village of Sarzyna. 

As part of the Central Industrial District, the construction of a chemical plant with a factory housing estate began in 1937. During World War II, numerous diversionary actions of the Polish underground were carried out in the Sarzyna area. The occupation and warfare caused huge losses on the factory site. After the war, a period of intensive reconstruction of the plant and construction of new housing estates began. In 1956 Nowa Sarzyna received the status of a settlement, and municipal rights in 1973. Nowa Sarzyna is characterized by a complete lack of "old buildings", the city's buildings are post-war. In appearance, it looks more like a large settlement than a city. The main employer for the residents is Zakłady Chemiczne "Organika-Sarzyna" S.A.

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland - was built despite the opposition of the authorities of the time in 1970-1979. The church was consecrated by Bishop Ignacy Tokarczuk. One of the bells on the bell tower dates back to the 16th century. 

Chapel of the Virgin Mary - there is a magnificent chapel with the Virgin Mary by the 'Organika' Chemical Plant. The chapel looks as if a section of the chancel was cut out of some church, there is an apse between two narrow walls. On the narrow walls are placed symbols of Christianity : bread and ears of grain are a symbol of the Eucharist, the chalice with grapes is a symbol of the shed blood of Christ. 

Two Sorrowful - in close proximity to each other in Nowa Sarzyna there are two brick roadside chapels, in the niches of which are placed figures of the Sorrowful Christ. One shrine bears the year 1899, and tradition has it that it was built on the site of the burial of a dead child. It can be seen that the shrine was restored by the owners of the neighboring property. There is a version that says that both chapels were built as a votive offering of thanksgiving to the residents of the village of Judaszówka and the surrounding area for being saved from the cholera plague. 

An undoubted attraction for tourists who like to spend time actively is canoeing on the Trzebośnica River. Trzebośnica is a 35 km long tributary of the San River. Unregulated in most of its course, it flows in meanders through the Kolbuszowa Plateau, the Tarnobrzeg Plain and the Lower San Valley. The canoe trail on the Trzebośnica is 15 km long, and the route is divided into three stages. The trail leads through picturesque terrain, meandering among flat as well as high and steep banks. For skilled canoeists, the 15 km is not a problem and the trail can be paddled in less than a day.
