Nowa Sól - a city located in Lubuskie Voivodeship in the County of Nowa Sól. It has a population of approximately 39 000 - in this respect it is the third urban center in Lubuskie Voivodeship. It is separated from the most important cities in this administrative region by: 27 km from Zielona Góra and 132 km from Gorzów Wielkopolski. The town is surrounded by the Oder River from the east. Other major urban centers in Nowa Sól's vicinity are Głogów, Lubin, Leszno, Żagań, and Żary. The origins of the town, which was created as a result of urbanization changes from a merger of local settlements, date back to the 16th century. Nowa Sól was granted city rights in 1743. The town takes its name from the salt purification occupation, which was an important branch of local industry from 1553 until the Thirty Years' War.
Guests to Nowa Sól should especially visit Dwarf Park, which is located on Wolności Avenue. Upon entering the park, you will notice Solus. It is a 5-meter tall dwarf, which in 2009 entered the Guinness Book of Records in the category of tallest garden dwarves in the world. Next to him stands his wife - Lusia. This charming couple is not the only attraction in the park. Walking further, we may come across a 7-meter tall figurine of a Grizzly bear. People who like to spend time actively should use the rope park, skate park and WakePark. Such a set of attractions, together with beautiful natural surroundings, makes the Dwarf Park a great place of recreation for children and adults.
Another tourist attraction in Nowa Sól, located outdoors, is the Physics Park. It covers as much as 4 hectares, making it the largest facility of its kind in the region. There are 46 educational devices in the Physics Park, explaining selected laws and phenomena of science.
When it comes to other attractions of Nowa Sól, an important role in the local landscape is played by the Oder River, which is also used for tourist purposes. You can take a canoe or cruise boat on the Oder River.
It would be best to start your tour of Nowa Sol with a visit to the local tourist information centre. The Tourist Information Centre (CIT) is located at 2 Korzeniowskiego Street, where you can get tips on sightseeing and spending time in Nowa Sól. The employees of CIT will show you the way to the most important city monuments. The list opens with the City Museum, St. Michael the Archangel Church from the 16th century, the former Moravian Brethren temple, K. Janson's villa complex (currently the Municipal Public Library) and Gruschwitz's villa (currently the Municipal Social Welfare Centre and Brother Albert's Society). Wyzwolenia Square can be considered the town's central promenade.
The best restaurants can be found in the vicinity of Wyzwolenia Square. Wyzwolenia Square. Among the top rated gourmet restaurants in Nowa Sol are: Local slow fast food, Fiesta, Verde RistoBar, Retro, Koku Shusi, Smakosz, Pod Kotwicą and Krowa i Kurczak. The offer is completed by numerous establishments serving fast food and pizzerias (e.g. Bad Boys, World). Here you can find food from various cuisines of the world. For coffee and cakes it is worth dropping in to Cafe Wanilia and Cafe 7 Życzeń.
Nowa Sól can also be a good base for exploring western Poland. Those wishing to explore this part of the country can choose trains and buses to and from Nowa Sol. The offer of carriers is more than satisfactory, making it much easier to travel cheaply and conveniently, without having your own car.
