New Town Lubawskie - a trip around Drwęca River!
A town in Poland located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, the seat of the poviat of Nowy Lubaw. It is located between Garb Lubawski and Iława Lake District, on the Drwęca River.
Nowy Miasto was founded in 1325 by the land komtur Otto von Lutterberg, receiving a location privilege at the same time. After the end of the Thirteen Years' War, under the provisions of the Second Toruń Peace Treaty in 1466, Nowe Miasto was restored to the Kingdom of Poland, receiving the status of a town directly subject to the ruler.
Because of the numerous bicycle paths around the Drwęca River, we encourage you to rent a bike and organize a full-day trip - the local trails are several dozen kilometers long, so there is plenty to do. In the meantime, you can visit numerous attractions and monuments located in neighboring towns.
Another recreational place is the City Park, whose history dates back to the 19th century, where not only can you relax in the bosom of nature, but also catch a glimpse of one of the cultural events that are organized here periodically.
From the monuments in the sacral category, we recommend St. Thomas the Apostle Church, which is decorated with altars from the 17th and 18th century.
For those who like challenges, there is a geocaching trail - following it you will look for hidden treasures in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie using a GPS receiver. It is necessary to be in good shape, because there will be a lot of running. The winner of the game is the person who finds a special container and reports it on the indicated website.
