Odessa - an impressive city in Ukraine, located on the Black Sea. With a population of over one million, this city is the third largest city in Ukraine after Kiev and Kharkiv. The population is impressive, although Kiev is significantly larger with  nearly 3 million inhabitants, Kharkiv has over 1.4 million.

Odessa - Tourist Attractions and City Sightseeing

Did you know that the most recognizable symbol of the city is the Potemkin Stairs? Long at 192 steps and widening downwards, they are the symbolic entrance to the city. Compared to the famous Spanish Steps in Rome they are  longer and more numerous (the ones in Rome have 138 steps)

One of the city's major attractions is the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Next to the Potemkin Stairs - the most recognizable symbol of the city. The opera and ballet building is captivating, enchanting both from the outside and inside. The attraction is highly rated by visitors, both the building itself and the artistic performances. For many, it is a must-see on the tourist map of Odessa. 

Another attraction highly rated by visitors is the Odessa Catacombs. It is a network of underground excavations, tunnels and corridors of about 2.5 thousand kilometers. The number of kilometers is constantly growing due to the extraction of limestone. It is estimated that less than half of the corridors are urban buildings. Due to the numerous corridors, we suggest visiting only with a guide. This attraction is highly rated by visitors, reserve about 2-3 hours to explore the underground city.

For those tired of a day's sightseeing, however, we recommend to wring out some strength and walk along Deribasovska Street. This is the main street, recommended for an evening walk, plenty of restaurants and pubs where you can relax after a day of sightseeing in Odessa. The street leads all the way to the port, an attraction highly rated by tourists.
