Polkowice - an industrial town in Lower Silesia.
A county town situated in Lower Silesia Province, on the south-eastern edge of the Dalkowskie Hills towards the Szprotawa Valley. It is one of the main industrial centers of the Legnica-Głogów Copper Belt. According to the first records, Bolesław I the Tall from the Piast Dynasty built a hunting manor called Bolkowice in the forest, at the place of today's town. This name was modified over time - Bolkewice, Pulkowice and finally Polkowice.
In the town we recommend visiting the parish church of St. Michael the Archangel, whose name is the oldest one in the world. In the city we recommend visiting the parish church of St. Michael the Archangel, whose origins date back to medieval times, with a neo-Gothic altar, which is decorated with figures of the four evangelists; the old part of the town hall from the eighteenth century and the new one from the next century; the Dutch Windmill, which last year was officially opened to the public after a two-year renovation; the remains of the Morgenroth villa, and for those thirsty for water baths we recommend a visit to Aquapark Polkowice.
