Pulawy lies on the eastern bank of the Vistula River and is the largest city on the Vistula between Warsaw and Krakow. At the same time, they are among the most important towns in the Lublin province. It is about 55 km from Lublin, 60 km from Radom and 140 km from Warsaw. The city is famous not only for its charming riverside location and several spectacular tourist attractions, but also for its industrial base - Poland's largest fertilizer producer, Zakłady Azotowe Puławy SA, operates here.
The city's big advantage is its convenient location in central Poland. The city is intersected by the S12 expressway, which nearby connects to the S17, greatly facilitating vehicular transport in the region. These facilities are used, among others, by Sindbad coaches running to and from Pulawy.
The city is located near very popular tourist spots - Kazimierz Dolny and Naleczow. Visitors often also visit Pulawy, which has quite a lot to offer visitors. The biggest attraction of Pulawy is the palace and park complex of the Princes Czartoryski. It dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The park has an English character - it is dominated by symmetry and natural landscape. There are several notable buildings in the park, including the Palace of the Czartoryski Princes, which houses the Czartoryski Museum. In addition, in the park we will also find the Gothic House, the Greek House, Marynki Palace finished in neoclassical style, the Temple of Sybil, the Chinese Gazebo and the Roman Gate. In the park, which is an excellent place for strolling, one will also find grottos, the sarcophagus of August and Sophia Princes Czartoryski, the sculpture of Tancred and Clorinda, a water tower, terrace stairs and a small body of water - the Vistula Lacha. Not far from the park complex is the 1803 palace chapel, today's Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Tourists visiting Pulawy also pay attention to the over a kilometer long John Paul II Bridge. It constitutes a crossing over the Vistula River and is part of the S12 route. It is the largest arch bridge in our country. The river marina with berths for 48 boats is also very popular. There is also a restaurant, water equipment rental and a campground.
It would be best to start visiting the city by visiting the Tourist Information Center. This point is located at Independence Square. In addition to sightseeing instructions and souvenirs, you can also purchase a local specialty there - Pulawy Almonds.
The city also has a little something for foodies. There are several restaurants in Pulawy, among which the best scores are: Tawerna nad Wisłą (Tavern on the Vistula River), Stara Octownia (Old Octownia), Willa Cienista (Shadow Villa), Grotto Park, Bao An, Kameralna Restaurant, and Prima Nova. There is also no shortage of establishments serving fast food - pizzerias, kebab and hamburger outlets.
People wishing to savor the Czartoryski heritage can take advantage of Sindbad's bus service. The city can also be reached by rail. Pulawy hosts numerous cultural events, and many visitors come here just for concerts, picnics or outdoor events.
