Rosenheim is a town of about 60,000 people in Germany in Bavaria near the border with Austria located on the Inn River. It was one of the few German cities to suffer little damage during World War II. The name Rosenheim was first mentioned in 1232, although a Roman settlement in the area existed as early as around 10 BC. Thanks to its location on the Inn, halfway between Munich and Vienna, the city quickly grew into a major center of trade. Rosenheim is also an attractive destination due to its location close to Lake Chiemsee, the Mangfall mountains and the Chiemgau Alps.
Rosenheim's market square (Max-Josefs-Platz) is surrounded by beautiful, colorful and sometimes elaborately decorated townhouses. The place abounds with many atmospheric cafes and restaurants where one can sit and enjoy tasty coffee and local wheat beer.

It is a flower garden, primarily famous for growing medicinal plants. Initially a private garden owned by the Rieder family, it passed into city ownership in 1925. Reportedly, as early as 1729 Johann Rieder, the city apothecary, grew herbs there, from which he later created medicinal mixtures. The garden also features, among other things, a section with alpine plants, a playground and an open wading pool used for footbathing.
These mountains, which are part of the Bavarian Alps located in Germany and Austria, offer many beautiful, scenic trails. It is one of the lower alpine ranges, with Sonntagshorn the highest peak at 1,961 meters above sea level.
This is the largest natural lake in Bavaria, making it sometimes called the Bavarian Sea. The body of water is beautifully integrated into the landscape of the Bavarian Alps. It features three islands, the two largest of which are inhabited (Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee). It's a great place not only to relax and enjoy a number of sports, but also to visit palaces, especially the Herrenchiemsee Palace, modeled after Versailles in France.
It's a picturesque park with heathlands and peat bogs. Its area can be traversed along specially prepared educational paths with information boards and admire the surroundings from several viewing platforms. It is an area ideal for exploring especially with children.
