San Benedetto del Tronoto is a very active fishing center and one of the main seaside resorts on the central Adriatic. The promenade is characterized by rich vegetation, consisting mainly of countless palm trees, which also grow on the beach, thus the city is referred to as the "Riviera of Palms". Walks through the town are also made more pleasant by the vast expanses of pine forests and alleys with varied tree species such as pines, oleanders and lime trees. There is also a tennis complex, ice rink, mini-golf course, swimming pool and bowling alley. The atmosphere of the city is created by the old, urban buildings, with narrow streets and terracotta houses, a medieval castle, the 13th century tower Torre dei Gualtieri, the Oratory of the Madonna della Pietà on the cliff, the 14th century tower called Torre Guelfa, a remnant of the fortress and the church of San Benedetto Martire, built in Romanesque style. San Benedetto is also home to numerous museums, among them the Museum of Amphorae, the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Fisheries and Maritime Civilization, the Museum of Malacology with over 700,000 shells, the Museum of Fishing, and the Art Exhibition at the Town Hall. The proximity of green hills with important medieval villages around San Benedetto del Tronto, encourages art and history lovers to make small excursions outside the city. An excellent starting point is the stop at the TruckOne Hotel, in via S. Giovanni, where the Sindbad buses stop and from where you can leave immediately for the Adriatica SS16 highway that runs along the coast. Unforgettable views guaranteed!
