Skoczów - a town located in the south of the Silesian Province, surrounded by mountains. In August, it hosts the Beskid Culture Week, which invites tourists to enjoy a full range of music, folklore and traditions of Polish highlanders and invited foreigners. Groups from different regions present on stage skits or dances related to their culture. Similar performances can be seen during this event in Wisła, Oświęcim or Żywiec.
In the center there is a market square with a medieval layout of houses. The town hall from the 18th century has a historic tower with an openwork lantern and ended with a ball in Rococo style, where documents from the 18th and 19th centuries were found in the 1990s. Right next to it there is so called Sarkander's House, which is a birthplace of famous saint John Sarkander from 16th century. The town itself is the starting point of the Sarkander Trail, a route associated with the life of the saint.
Thanks to its location, Skoczow is a great place for travelers who love mountain hiking. Not only is Kaplicowka Hill associated with Pope John Paul II's 1995 pilgrimage, but it is also the perfect place to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Silesian Beskids. In winter you can also use the ski lift.
