Welcome by coach to Swiebodzin! Swiebodzin is a city in Lubuskie Province, located in the Lagow Lake District and the Oder River basin.
First mentioned in the 12th century as a former Slavic town. The city grew rapidly. In later times mainly the cloth industry was exported, but smaller and larger factories also operated. After World War II the thermotechnical, furniture and agricultural industries developed.
Swiebodzin monuments are worth seeing such as St. Michael the Archangel Church, the Castle of the Order of St. John, the defensive walls, the tower, and the Town Hall with the Market Square. Noteworthy is the Statue of Jesus Christ King of the Universe, which in 2010-2011 was the largest statue of Christ in the world.
A personage associated with the city is Czesław Niemen. The artist had family here and was very fond of visiting the city. One of the city benches was named after him.
