The city is located in the north of Poland, and although it is a large commercial and economic center as well as a busy student city, everyone probably associates it with delicious gingerbread and a great Polish astronomer - Nicolaus Copernicus.

When in Toruń, it's worth taking a walk through the oldest part of the city - the Old Town Complex, which in 1997 was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to the historic townhouses and Teutonic Castle.

It is here in Toruń that you can also find the former home of Nicolaus Copernicus, located on the street named after him. It is a historic house built in Gothic style, which the Copernicus family lived in the second half of the fifteenth century. Currently, in this and the neighbouring house is a branch of the Toruń District Museum, known as the Nicolaus Copernicus House. The museum branch includes the interior where we can admire the reconstructed medieval room layout and decor, and located in both houses in the basement where an exhibition titled "The world of Toruń's gingerbread" is permanently held. You can see here, among others, forms for kneading gingerbread dough from the Baroque era and discover the original composition of gingerbread and even try your hand at baking. The attraction of the museum is also a model of old Torun, which displays an impressive multimedia presentation of the astronomer's biography and the history of his hometown. There is also a collection of editions of the work "De Revolutionibus", family memorabilia of the astronomer, as well as various items documenting the versatile activities of the great humanist dating back to the first half of the fifteenth century.
In the City of the eminent astronomer could not, of course, miss the contemporary monument to his work. Thus, as a result of cooperation between the Friends of the Planetarium Foundation and the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum, this object was created. A day spent in the planetarium passes on admiring the 40-minute astronomical projections presenting the constellations and the moon in each of its phases. The moving image projected over the heads of viewers, complemented by narration and music, provides an unforgettable experience.
