Uman - the enchanting Zofiówka

Uman- a city located in central Ukraine. Umań is a medium-sized city with a population of about 80,000. Various industries operate here, including food, industrial, and construction companies.

We would like to introduce you to the concept of Zofiivka Park. This is the biggest attraction of the city, it is highly appreciated by both residents and tourists. At this stage, the history of the famous "Zofiówka" should be explained. The park was founded by Stanisław Potocki, in honour of his wife Zofia (hence the name of the park). The construction of the park cost a fortune, the work on the construction lasted several years. Planted here a variety of vegetation coming from different parts of Europe. The park had a large area  about 160 hectares (today the park has about 180 hectares). It was built in a romantic style with ponds, rivers and a 224 meters long overland channel. On one of the ponds an island with a fountain was created, what is interesting in the park there were built several dozens of small buildings typical for park architecture. These included gazebos, busts, sculptures, caves and obelisks. Later, the famous Zofiówka faced problems due to the fact that it was confiscated by Tsar Nicholas I. Also some sculptures were removed, for example those of Józef Poniatowski and Tadeusz Kościuszko. Nowadays, the park has regained its splendor and is the most important attraction of the city. Zofiivka is counted among the seven wonders on the territory of Ukraine.
