The city was first mentioned in the 13th century as part of present-day Bohemia. The location of the city had a positive impact on its development.  Weiden in der Oberpfalz was located on the so-called Golden Road, connecting Prague with Norinberg. It is worth walking around the old part of the city with numerous old buildings and visiting the central point  Old Town Hall from the 16th century.
