Wolfsburg is a relatively young city - it was founded in 1938 during the era of German National Socialism. Its name literally translates as "wolf castle." Wolfsburg is famous for its factories that produce the world-famous Volkswagen car brand, which it owes to... Hitler. Today, this is where the headquarters of this concern is located. During World War II, the plants switched to armaments production, and the hunchbacks (Volfswagen Type 1) previously produced were replaced by a military version of the Kübelwagen. At that time, many female workers and forced laborers, including those from Poland, worked at Wolfsburg.
