Zgorzelec is a seemingly small town with a population of 30,000, located on the border with Germany. Zgorzelec on the Polish side and Görlitz on the German side are actually one city divided by a river, since 1945, after the border was established on the Lusatian Neisse. Getting off at our stop located at the Shell - Jedrzychowice station parking lot, it is best to get to the center by car or cab. It is worth starting the sightseeing from the most characteristic object, which is the building of the House of Culture. The building was erected in 1902 as a memorial to the two emperors - Wilhelm I and Frederick III, who died in 1888. Eventually, since 1904 it also became a museum. What distinguishes the building is a 42-meter high dome topped with an imperial crown. Also worth a visit is the Greek Boulevard and a stroll along the banks of the Lusatian Neisse. All you have to do to get to Görlitz is cross one of the bridges, and this part of town offers more than 3500 monuments, the highest number among all German cities. At every turn you will find historic fountains, sculptures, beautiful gates, ornaments and much more. It is definitely worth coming here for more than one day.
