Żory is a city with county rights in southern Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship, historically in Upper Silesia.
It is one of the cities belonging to the Rybnik Coal District. Nowadays, the town fulfils commercial, service and logistic functions.
Żory is one of the towns through which the Cystercian Landscape Composition of Ore Mountains runs, where you can find famous fish ponds and relax surrounded by unusual flora and fauna. Apart from that, Zory is also conducive to hiking and cycling, with the following cycling routes running through it:
There is also access to numerous attractions, Such as a roller-skating track, an open swimming pool, a street workout park, an open-air gym, the Brickyard Park, the Aquarion Water Park, the Fire Museum or the Twinpigs Western Town.
The City Museum, located in the historic Hearinga Villa, has two permanent exhibitions, "Our Identity" and "Polish Learning About the World." The second museum is the Museum of Fire, housed in a building constructed in 2014 and considered an outstanding work of contemporary architecture.
