Pyskowice is a small town near Gliwice in the Silesian province. It is inhabited by a population of about 16,000 people. The most important monuments are located within the old town, which has preserved its former medieval urban layout to this day. While in the market square, it is worth noting not only the building of the town hall, but also the 18th and 19th century houses surrounding the main town square. There is also a Marian column from 1809 and a fountain from the first half of the 20th century. The Town Hall is now the home of the Pyskowice City Museum, which presents historical and regional exhibitions related to the city and its surroundings, or a sizable collection of minerals. The most important church in Pyskowice is St. Nicholas Church, dating back to the 13th century. Inside it one can see the historic altar of St. John of Nepomuk.
