Bochnia is the oldest town in Lesser Poland located on the Raba River, on the border of the Sandomierz Basin and Carpathian Foothills. It is called the "City of Salt" due to the presence of one of the oldest salt mines in the world. The town owes its foundation to the discovery of rock salt in 1248.
