Salzgitter is a city located in Lower Saxony, Germany, known primarily for its industrial character and rich history. It is one of the youngest cities in the country, as it was only founded in 1942 by merging several smaller settlements and villages to support the development of the arms industry during World War II. Today, however, Salzgitter is one of the larger cities in Lower Saxony, with a population of more than 100,000.

Gorlice is a nearly 26,000-strong town in Malopolska province located on the northern border of the Beskid Niski in the valley of the Ropa and Sekowka rivers.
