TRIER

Located in Rhineland-Palatinate and surrounded by numerous vines growing in the surrounding hills, Trier is a unique German city. In addition to its beautiful location, it also boasts a long history and an exceptional collection of historical monuments. Trier is one of the oldest, if not the oldest city in Germany. Its origins date back to Roman times - it was founded around 16 BC. From this period quite a few objects have survived, which today attract many tourists here. The most interesting of these are the remains of an amphitheater from the 1st century AD, the Thermae, the Roman bridge over the Moselle River or the Porta Nigra gate, which is today the main symbol of the city.

Trewir, or Trier in German, are monuments from later times as well. To see them, it's especially worth going to the local market. There are beautiful medieval temples here - the Romanesque St. Peter's Cathedral and the Gothic St. Mary's Church, as well as many beautiful Renaissance and Baroque townhouses. In the nearby area, you can visit the Karl Marx House, which houses a museum dedicated to his life and ideology.

The closest airport to Trier is in Luxembourg, another airport from where you can get here is Frankfurt-Hahn. Of course, you can also go here by your own means of transportation or by train, which, however, involves several transfers and a considerable cost. KETY

Kęty is a small town located in the southern part of the Oświęcim-Raciobrzeg basin, at the foot of the Beskid Mały Mountains. It is a great base for trips to the nearby mountains, as well as an interesting place to visit during a day trip.

The town has a long history, which is best seen by going to the late 14th century market square, which has undergone renovations in recent years. It is surrounded by 19th- and 20th-century townhouses, and the centerpiece is a statue depicting the town's former resident and patron saint, St. John Cantius. One of the townhouses houses the town museum, which collects old objects of daily use of the residents and other memorabilia related to Kety. While in town, it is also worth visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation, or the Baroque church of Saints Margaret and Catherine, as well as the small church of Saint John Kante, located next door. Kety was home to a small Jewish community as recently as 100 years ago, as evidenced by a cemetery with some 60 preserved matzevot and the remains of a former synagogue.

In addition to historical monuments, the city also offers interesting attractions. Kęty and the area around the Soła River is a great place for active recreation. In the Linden Park, created in 2014, one can combine walking or sports with learning about dendrology or beekeeping.

Commuting to Kęty

Kęty is well connected - it lies between Bielsko-Biała and Wadowice on the route of national road 52 and provincial road 948. The city is located in Malopolska province, in Oswiecim county. It is one of the older Polish cities, having been granted city rights under Lwówek law in 1277.
