Few people know this, but Hanau is the hometown of the world-famous Grimm brothers, authors of the "Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales." Their collection of fairy tales has become a classic, which to this day is the ideal way to teach children the values of good triumphing over evil. The Brothers Grimm monument is therefore one of Hanau's main attractions, but certainly not the only one!

Hanau Castle

An impressive structure located in the heart of Hanau, which is one of the city's key landmarks. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Dukes of Hanau. It was also rebuilt and expanded several times over the centuries, reflecting its diverse architectural style. In the 16th century, during a Renaissance reconstruction, the castle received a new look, which has survived to the present day. Initially, Hanau Castle served defensive and representative functions. Today it is one of the main tourist spots in Hanau, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of the city and its former inhabitants.

The Brothers Grimm Museum in Hanau

A fascinating place that combines history, literature and culture related to the life and work of the aforementioned Brothers Grimm. The museum was established in 2013 as a modern facility to commemorate and study the lives and literary achievements of the Brothers Grimm. It is housed in a modern building that blends harmoniously with its surroundings and provides the perfect backdrop for exhibits dedicated to this pair of accomplished scholars and writers.

The Old Town of Hanau

A charming place that impresses with its architecture, atmosphere and rich cultural heritage. Hanau's Old Town has its roots in the Middle Ages. As an administrative and commercial center, it initially played a key role in the city's development. The area has undergone numerous changes over the centuries, but many of its historic elements have survived to this day. Although some of the historic buildings were destroyed during World War II, many have been carefully restored, preserving the distinctive architectural and historical style.

Hanau Botanical Garden

A beautiful space that combines a diverse collection of plants that are carefully selected and arranged in different parts of the garden. The garden offers visitors the opportunity to experience different types of plants and flowers, both local and exotic, in a beautiful setting. There is a Theme Garden, a Rose Garden, a Herb Garden and a Tropical Garden, among others. Visitors can enjoy numerous walking paths, a café and a garden store where they can purchase gardening-related souvenirs.
