England is, of course, only part of the United Kingdom, which additionally includes Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. On the other hand, for the purposes of this text, we have decided to take advantage of a simplification by using the names England and Great Britain interchangeably. Therefore, more than once, when writing England below, we obviously mean the territory of the entire United Kingdom. Unless we indicate that we mean this particular part of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is no longer a member of the European Union, although even before Brexit, which, by the way, is still treated as a mistake by some islanders, travel to England by air required passing a check-in, just as for travel outside the Schengen area. Currently, entry to the UK requires a valid passport. What's more, as of the first of October 2021, you must also be provided with the appropriate visa! You can find more information about travel to England on government websites: https://www.gov.pl/web/wielkabrytania/informacje-dla-podrozujacych.

What to see in England?
In truth, you'll find so many attractions in London alone that it would take a weekend to visit them all. However, we will try to present a few attractions in England, which are not so obvious, and can show you Britain from a slightly different perspective than the one associated with the movies or postcards.
Attractions in England - Dover
Dover is a port city, often called the Gateway to England, because it is located on the English Channel itself, and only thirty-four kilometers separate it from the French port of Calais. The city has three landmarks. The harbor, the castle and the white chalk cliffs, about which poems have been written, sung and films have been made. Dover is located in one of England's more charming counties, Kent. Kent is also home to Canterbury. The two towns are only thirty kilometers apart. The county is famous for its vast spaces, green areas, charming small towns and the aforementioned chalk cliffs. It is primarily for fans of nature, walking and trekking. If you're looking for trendy restaurants, museums and big stores, go rather to... Manchester.
Manchester - what to see in England
The city had a huge impact on the development of industry and science, so it makes sense to visit the Museum of Science and Industry. Manchester was the birthplace of the Rolls-Royce car brand and the first scientific computer. The city is almost entirely built of red brick, as is common in such post-industrial metropolises. Therefore, many of the entertainment and museums there are dedicated to men. So it's worth checking out the National Football Museum there, as well as the stadiums of Manchester United and Manchester City.Nearly Manchester is also home to the Lake District National Park, where, incidentally, you'll find Scafell Pika, England's highest peak. For mainlanders, 978 meters above sea level is not impressive, but for islanders, reaching the summit can be a challenge.
London - what to see? - less obvious attractions
When going to London for the first time, everyone wants to see Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Eye of London, Big Ben, the duathouse on Tower Bridge and, of course, the bridge itself. But what else to see in London? Fans of Arthur Conan Doyle should go to... 221b Baker Street. At this address you will find the museum, and what a museum it is, of Sherlock Holmes. From this very literary place, it's also a stone's throw to the Mademe Tussauds museum and the impressive wax figures. The Krakow ones don't compare, believe us!Further east you will hit the road leading directly to the royal parks. There are eight of them in London, together covering an area of twenty-two square kilometers! The one closest to the museum of wax figures deserves special attention, because in its northern part you will find the Zoo, and in the western part you will find Boating Lake, on which you can ride a pedal boat.
