Halmstad is a coastal city in southwestern Sweden and the administrative center of the picturesque county of Halland. It lies at the mouth of the Nissan River into the Baltic Sea on the Kattegat Strait. Halmstad has a population of about 70,000.

The S5 and DK15 connect in the city, and the A2 and A1 highways run nearby.
