.Ilawa is a beautifully located city in the Warmian-Masurian province. It is located on one of the largest lakes in Poland - Jeziorak Lake, surrounded by the Iława Lake District Landscape Park. It is inhabited by just over 30,000 people. Despite this, Ilawa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
.What attractions does Ilawa offer? Lovers of active recreation on the water and in nature will not be bored here. In addition, you will find interesting buildings, several monuments and places worth exploring. The oldest building in the city is the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, dating back to the early 14th century. Years ago, inextricably linked to it were the city walls, which are only fragmentarily preserved to this day. Also worth seeing is the Church of St. John the Theologian located in the more than a century-old building of the city gasworks. Its interiors and exterior facade delight with colorful icons. An interesting monument is the neo-Gothic Ilawa Town Hall and the Baroque sculptures located on Niepodległości Street. They depict Roman deities: Juno, Hercules, Jupiter and Medusa.
Of course, the city's biggest attraction is Lake Jeziorak and the associated opportunities for active leisure and recreation. In addition, in the small town of Kurzętnik, near Ilawa, there is a ski resort called Kurza Gora, which means that Ilawa and its surroundings can also interest winter sports enthusiasts.
