ZABRZE

Zabrze is a city between Gliwice and Bytom located in Upper Silesia. It is inhabited by nearly 157,000 people. Its name signifies a settlement located behind debry, or hills covered with forest thicket. Although Zabrze as a city has existed since 1922, it has a much longer history. The first mention of its current district, then the settlement of Biskupice, dates back to 1243, and Zabrze is mentioned in documents from the early 14th century. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, Zabrze developed as an industrial center - coal mines and a steel mill were established.

It may seem that there is nothing interesting to see there, but the city is full of interesting attractions not found anywhere else in Poland. In Zabrze you can see many brilliantly revitalized remnants of its industrial and mining past, such as the Królowa Luiza Adit, once the pride of mining engineers, today one of the biggest attractions of the Silesian province offering interesting attractions both underground and on the surface. The Guido Mine is also a must-see, allowing visitors to descend more than 300 meters below the surface and traverse nearly 5 kilometers of underground trails there, familiarizing themselves with the hard work of miners. Another similar attraction is Maciej Shaft, a complex of buildings of the former Concordia Mine.

Zabrze is located by the A4 and A1 highways. National and provincial roads run through it. There is also a railroad station and the Zabrze PKS bus station, which is located on Goethe Street in the city center. EINDHOVEN

Eindhoven is a city located in the south of the Netherlands on the Dommel River. It is famous as a center of the electronics industry - such global giants as Philips and DAF have their headquarters and production facilities there.

The most valuable monument in the city is the neo-Gothic St. Catherine's Catholic Church from 1867 with twin towers clearly towering over the area. Eindhoven stands for museums - you can find there, among others, museums related to the strongly rooted industry there. Interactive Philips Museum will delight children, but also adults will not leave indifferent to the puzzles and riddles present there. The DAF museum, on the other hand, will appeal to lovers of automobiles, especially trucks. In addition, in Eindhoven you can visit the contemporary art museum Van Abbemuseum.

For relaxation, head to the Speelpark de Splinter park abounding with beautiful playgrounds and many activities for the little ones, or the Down Town Gourmet Market, where you can enjoy food from all cuisines of the world, even as exotic as... Icelandic.

There are many bicycle paths in the city, especially scenic ones along the Dommel River. The strict center of Eindhoven is free of car traffic. So it is worth a small amount to rent a bicycle for the whole day and discover the city from the perspective of two wheels.

Eindhoven Airport is located about 8 kilometers west of the city center and the main train station, from which you can reach major Dutch cities.
