Znin is a small town located roughly in the middle of a triangle whose vertices are marked by Poznań, Toruń and Piła. Znin is part of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, and is about 40 km from Bydgoszcz. The city's history dates back to the 13th century and is closely linked to the archbishopric of Gniezno. Znin is the capital of Pałuki, a cultural region of Wielkopolska, which is famous for its tourist, natural and historical qualities.
The city's most recognizable attraction is the town hall tower, dating back to the 15th century.Today it houses the Museum of the Paluki Region, where we can admire, among other things, an exhibition on the history of Znin. Enthusiasts of bygone centuries will surely notice the information boards set up in various points of the city, relating to the history of the town. Speaking of history, we can't forget Biskupin, home to a famous archaeological reserve. There you can admire the buildings of a Neolithic settlement and take a trip back in time to a village from the early Middle Ages. Near Biskupin is Venice, where you will find the ruins of a 14th-century castle belonging to castellan Mikołaj Nałęcz. For lovers of sacred art, we recommend a visit to the wooden church of St. Nicholas in Gąsawa, and for enthusiasts of more grandiose buildings a visit to the classicist Lubostroń Palace. If you are traveling to the area with your family, two locations are certainly worth remembering: Zaurolandia - the Dinosaur Park in Rogów, and Silverado City - a western town in Bożejewiczki.
Venice is also home to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum - a paradise for fans of the receding mode of transportation. One of the biggest attractions here is the opportunity to take a train ride on the route: Znin - Venice - Biskupin - Gąsawa.
Znin County is also, and perhaps above all, amazing nature. The city is sandwiched between two lakes: the Large Znin Lake and the Small Znin Lake. There are also many smaller bodies of water in the area. These surroundings are a dream area for fishermen, sailors, horse riding and windsurfing enthusiasts, mushroom pickers, cyclists or forest hikers.
It is an open secret that they feed well in Znin! In the center of the city located between the lakes, you can easily find a restaurant that will satisfy the hunger of even the biggest hunger pangs. Recommended dining establishments include Sacharoza restaurant, Turbinownia restaurant, Brzozówka restaurant, Starówka restaurant, U Leona restaurant, Piwniczna bistro, Uli restaurant, JACK BBQ restaurant and Thai Mai Mai oriental bar. The offer is supplemented by several fast food establishments and pizzerias.
