country_seo_h1_by Transport to Belarus - coaches and buses to Belarus country_seo_head_by Number of cities served in Belarus: country_seo_note1_by Belarus is a very beautiful but still underrated country. Only relatively recently, after the introduction of visa-free travel in some areas for a short period of time, the number of travelers visiting it has increased significantly. In theory, Belarus may seem similar to Russia, but despite the known political system, lack of media freedom, everything is more affordable, goods in stores are not in short supply, and people are nice and helpful. country_seo_note2_by

Minsk

It is usually the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of places to see in Belarus. No wonder - it is the capital and largest city in the country. However, you won't find many monuments there - Minsk suffered badly during World War II.When in the capital, you definitely need to take a walk down the main street, Independence Prospect. It is about 15 kilometers long, but especially noteworthy is the initial section with the Red Church and Government House, or the National Library building. Worth seeing is the Baroque archcathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as other churches, churches and synagogues, which somehow stand out from the dominant socialist realist architecture in the city. Minsk is also home to the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus - a perfect place for a break from sightseeing.

Vitebsk

This city lies in northeastern Belarus on the Dvina River. While there, see the 18th century Governor's Palace, the Resurrection Church, the Annunciation Church and St. Barbara's Cathedral. The most famous figure associated with Vitebsk was the painter and graphic artist, Marc Chagall. Near Vitebsk's train station is his family home, now open to the public, where numerous photographs, copies of documents and works by the artist can be seen. A larger collection of Chagall's colorful works can be found at the Marc Chagall Art Center - a gallery dedicated to him.

Mir Castle

This is one of the symbols of Belarus - a pearl of medieval architecture. Since 1566 the castle was the property of the Radziwill family, who rebuilt it in the Renaissance style. Both Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque features can be seen in it. The stronghold witnessed many important events in Polish history. The castle is located on the road from Brest to Minsk, near the town of Baranovichi. Inside its interiors a museum has been created, where one can find many historical documents, elements of weaponry and costumes, while outside one can take a stroll through the beautiful park that surrounds it. In 2000 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Palace and Park Complex in Nesvizh

This is another structure that was once the residence of the Radziwill family and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located on the Usha River only 30 kilometers from the castle in Mir. It was built in 1600 on a hill surrounded by water. Over the years it has been repeatedly destroyed, modernized and rebuilt so that today it is a peculiar mixture of many architectural styles. It is worth a visit to the palace - in its interiors you can see, among other things, 18th-century frescoes, and the Corpus Christi Church, which is part of the complex, contains the tombs of more than 100 distinguished members of the Radziwill family.

National Parks of Belarus

Belarus is one of the few European countries to boast wild, often unspoiled nature. The Pripyat National Park is located in the south of the country around the Pripyat River and encompasses muddy and wetlands, where more than 40 species of plants are specially protected. It is a unique place on the map of Europe providing refuge also for numerous species of birds and mammals. Visitors can admire the surroundings by hiking along marked hiking trails. In the Belarusian Lake District you will find Naroch National Park with the largest lake in the country - Naroch. It is an ideal place for birdwatching and long walks or bike tours along specially marked trails. The area is famous for its favorable microclimate, which is why it is home to more than a dozen sanatoriums, hotels and guesthouses. One of the most beautiful places to see are the Braslav Lakes located in the national park of the same name in the north of the country, near the border with Latvia and Lithuania. They consist of dozens of lakes interconnected by small rivers and canals surrounded by numerous hiking trails.

Brest

Brest is the second largest city in Belarus located just across the Polish border. Its most famous landmarks are the 19th-century monumental Tsarist fortress or the ruins of the Bernardine Monastery. It's worth taking an evening walk along Sovetskaya Street, Brest's main pedestrian zone, where gas lanterns are lit by a lighthouse keeper every day as dusk falls. Fans of trains are sure to visit the Railway Museum, where you can see the rolling stock of Belarusian railroads. Brest is also worth a visit when you want to admire modernist architecture - well represented, for example, by the Scout's House or the Polish Bank.

Dudutki - a journey into the past

Less than 50 kilometers from Minsk you can find an open-air museum and a group of museums related to ancient architecture, art and crafts of Belarus. Numerous shows and re-enactments are organized on the grounds. The largest are held in July during the "Our Grunwald" festival.
